Marques Clark was born on January 26 on the west side of Chicago Illinois. Growing up, Marques always had a passion to create something of his own that would entertain other people. He created a comic book series at the age of nine while selling it out of his mother’s office. In elementary and junior high school Marques began writing poetry and felt that he found his niche. He began winning contests and got his poetry published in the Young Author’s Book of Poetry.
As high school began Marques started moving away from poetry because of his new love; music. He spent hours writing lyrics based on experiences in his life but the problem was he didn’t have any original music of his own to record to. He overcame this obstacle by studying producers such as Kanye West to create his own music to record to. By 17 Marques was creating music with ease and selling beats to people he knew.
While in college, Marques released a few mixtapes with his friends and started going to open mic competitions only to see what other talent there was. He knew of great talent from the people that he grew up around and what he heard through people he knew but this was not present in the open mic competitions. His junior year at NIU Marques purchased a studio microphone and a machine to make beats on not only for himself but to display the talent of other people. He figured he could help the world see the talent of those people he knew about but were not present at the open mics.
In the mean time, Marques was working with a high school friend who was doing public relations in Chicago, Randy C. Bonds. In his last year at NIU, Marques approached Randy with the idea of creating a website that would help display the talents of people who have been under the radar. He wanted to create an outlet for talented people whether it was music, modeling, or acting. Randy had an impressive list of people he worked with ranging from Taraji P. Henson to Usher. Randy welcomed the idea with open arms and would help contribute to the website by interviewing top celebrities.
Together they created Andwepresent with a goal of keeping their readers posted on the latest entertainment news. They would highlight the positives and stick to the facts as opposed to other websites who want glamor. With hopes to expand their brand while remaining authentic, Marques continues to expand his portfolio while exposing underrated talent. Andwepresent looks to become an important force in the media and entertainment industry.
